World-first safety features in Brisbane
Safety is our top priority so we’re really excited to introduce the world’s first e-scooter Helmet Lock and also an all-new Emergency Button feature!
23 January 2020
The app-controlled Helmet Lock secures a safety helmet to the e-scooter, electronically releasing it to use at the start of the trip. This innovative safety feature was designed to make more helmets available to riders. We’re rolling out in Brisbane at the moment, before launching in other cities over the coming weeks.
Helmet Lock was developed after discussions with Brisbane City Council, to improve overall rider safety by ensuring that helmets are more readily available. We know it will be popular with safety-conscious riders, and from an operational perspective, Helmet Lock will also reduce the number of missing and abandoned helmets too.
Also launched is our new Emergency Button feature which sends a notification to the rider’s phone asking ‘Are you alright?’ if the e-scooter detects a fall during a trip. Riders can respond by selecting ‘I’m alright’ or ‘I need emergency assistance’ at the touch of a button. If the latter is selected a call is placed directly to the local emergency services.
With our city partners we are always looking at ways to improve safety so it’s great to come up with these new initiatives.
