Neuron launches e-scooters and e-bikes in Lethbridge!

Our safety-first e-scooters and e-bikes are now available to ride on Lethbridge streets

Starting today, Neuron’s distinctive “safety orange” e-scooters and e-bikes are available for hire in Lethbridge, Alberta. The launch marks the beginning of the City’s first program of this kind.

Lethbridge is the first Canadian city to feature Neuron’s e-bikes as part of its innovative micromobility program. Neuron’s EB1 e-bikes are fitted with the same cutting-edge safety features brought over from our e-scooters, including our app-controlled helmet lock that secures a helmet to every device; topple detection; a 911 emergency button, voice guidance to educate and warn riders on how to ride safely; and a ‘Follow my Ride’ function for added peace of mind.

The City of Lethbridge awarded Neuron a permit to operate 500 e-scooters and 100 e-bikes that will be gradually introduced to the city’s streets. In our first phase, e-scooters and e-bikes will be available for travel throughout west and south Lethbridge, covering a 47-square-kilometre service area. Neuron’s safe and sustainable service transforms the way people get around cities. Together, we’re reducing car journeys and carbon emissions and supporting local economies and tourism hubs.

Lethbridge riders, who must be at least 18 years of age, can get started by downloading Neuron’s easy-to-use app from the App Store or Google Play. Single trips cost C$1.15 to unlock the e-scooter and 35c per minute thereafter. More frequent users have the option to purchase Neuron Passes, a subscription service, available in three-day (C$25), weekly (C$33), or monthly (C$89) options.

Neuron introduces discounted Concession Pass with the launch of global equity and accessibility programme Neuron Access!

New Concession Pass for low-income users will provide the community with greater access to Neuron’s micromobility services

We are thrilled to be launching a Concession Pass for low-income users, as part of our global equity and accessibility programme, Neuron Access, which aims to make Neuron’s e-scooter and e-bike services accessible to underserved communities. The discounted pass will provide up to 50% off an applicable Neuron Pass.

Similar to low-cost transit passes offered by public transport services, Neuron’s Concession Pass makes budgeting for transportation expenses easier, allowing users to ride more at substantial cost savings and lower upfront fees. Concession Pass holders also benefit from unlimited rides for 90 minutes per day with no additional unlocking fees throughout the duration of their pass.

To qualify, an individual is required to provide the relevant concession proofs from an eligible government support programme, which riders can refer to on the Neuron app. The eligibility status of Concession Pass holders is valid for 12 months and can be renewed after.

The Concession Pass is currently available to users in Brisbane, Darwin, Melbourne and Perth in Australia as well as Calgary in Canada, but will be available in more cities across our markets this year. Neuron also plans to expand its Neuron Access offerings to more segments of the country’s underserved communities.

Neuron e-scooters and e-bikes are coming to Lethbridge!

Our safety-first e-scooters and e-bikes have been selected for the city’s first shared e-scooter and e-bike program.

Lethbridge’s residents and visitors will soon have an efficient, safe and climate-friendly way to run errands or explore their community as our e-scooters and e-bikes make their debut in the city. Beginning in April, Neuron will be phasing in the first of its fleet of 500 e-scooters and 100 e-bikes that will be available for rent throughout the city.

Neuron was selected due to its strong track record of partnering with cities, and its leadership when it comes to safety and innovation. The program will also create new local jobs in the city.

Joining Ottawa, Calgary, Red Deer and Vernon, Lethbridge is the fifth city in Canada to offer Neuron’s safe, sustainable service, giving residents and visitors a new way to get around town. The service has helped to transform how people get around these cities and is extending existing transportation networks, reducing car journeys and emissions, while supporting local economies and revitalizing downtown cores.

Lethbridge residents can rely on our unrivalled focus on safety. Our industry-leading e-scooters and e-bikes feature a range of cutting-edge safety features, including the world’s first app-controlled Helmet Lock that secures a safety helmet to every device.

Neuron’s e-scooters also feature our safe, stable and sustainable design — they’re visibly bigger and more robust than other e-scooters. Each e-scooter and e-bike is GPS-connected and managed by geofencing technology that controls where they can be ridden and parked, and at what speed they can travel in different areas. Neuron sets no-ride zones, no-parking zones and low-speed zones to further improve safety. Voice Guidance also educates riders and delivers instructions for safe riding and parking.

Riders will be able to book and use our devices through Neuron’s user-friendly app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play and set up in minutes. Single trips will cost C$1.15 to unlock the e-scooter and 35c per minute thereafter. More frequent users will have the option to purchase Neuron Passes, a subscription service, available in three-day (C$25), weekly (C$33), or monthly (C$89) options.

2022 Riding Season begins in Red Deer!

Neuron’s e-scooters are back on the streets providing riders a safe, convenient and environmentally-friendly way to get around town — and boost the local economy

Neuron e-scooters are back moving along the streets of Red Deer for the 2022 riding season!

As of March 16, Red Deer residents and visitors 16 years old and up can once again enjoy a safe and accessible e-scooter experience throughout the city.

A Neuron rider survey conducted last fall showed the first season of Red Deer’s e-scooter program had a big impact on the local economy. More than 80 per cent of respondents used Neuron e-scooters to visit restaurants, cafes and to explore the city, while 57 per cent said they’d supported the local economy by making purchases during their most recent trip.

Other findings:

    • More than a third (38 per cent) of all e-scooter trips in Red Deer replaced a car journey
    • There were over 54,000 rides on Neuron e-scooters during Red Deer’s first e-scooter season
    • Neuron’s emissions-free e-scooters are estimated to have eliminated approximately 12 tonnes of CO2 in the city throughout the 2021 season

Red Deer riders can rely on Neuron’s unrivalled focus on safety. Neuron e-scooters are fitted with the world’s first app-controlled Helmet Lock that secures a safety helmet to every e-scooter. Although helmets aren’t mandatory, Neuron strongly recommends them and will award a 50-cent credit to those who take a “helmet selfie” before starting their trip.

Other safety features include the safe, stable and sustainable design of Neuron’s e-scooters, which are visibly bigger and more robust than other e-scooters. All Neuron e-scooters are also GPS-connected and managed by geofencing technology that controls where they can be ridden and parked and at what speed they can travel in different areas. Neuron sets no-ride zones, no-parking zones and low-speed zones to further improve safety.

It’s easy to get started. Riders can book and use the e-scooters through our user-friendly app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play and set up in a matter of minutes.

Neuron kicks off 2022 riding season in Vernon!

Neuron’s e-scooter fleet is back on the streets following a successful 2021 season that saw riders embrace safe and convenient micromobility alternatives.

Residents and visitors in the City of Vernon can now hit the streets with Neuron once again as we kick off the 2022 riding season with the  redeployment of our  safety-first e-scooters.

When we launched in Vernon in July 2021, our e-scooters were embraced by the community, made a meaningful impact on the local economy, and supported the city’s Climate Action goal of reducing emissions to net zero by 2050. Neuron looks forward to partnering with the City of Vernon to build on last year’s success.

E-scooters provide a valuable transportation alternative  and are proven to reduce car journeys, congestion, and greenhouse gas emissions. The introduction of micromobility options like e-scooters increases resident and tourist travel around the city, resulting in more purchases at local businesses. Vernon’s e-scooter program has also created new local jobs in the city, with Neuron being certified as a Living Wage Employer in B.C.

A recent survey of Vernon’s riders showed 93% thought e-scooters had a positive impact on the community. 2021 trip data also revealed some amazing insights, including:

  • Neuron riders have traveled more than 160,000 kilometres throughout Vernon
  • 40% of trips replaced a car journey, saving an estimated 10 tonnes of CO2 emissions
  • More than half of the rides were for commuting purposes, to get to restaurants and cafes, or to explore the city, while 59% made a purchase during their trip

Our e-scooters are fitted with the world’s first integrated helmet, which is mandatory for use in Vernon. Riders, who must be at least 16 years of age, can book and use the e-scooters through Neuron’s user-friendly app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play and set up in a matter of minutes. Single trips cost C$1.15 to unlock the e-scooter and 35c per minute thereafter. More frequent users have the option to purchase Neuron Passes, a subscription service, available in three-day (C$25), weekly (C$33), or monthly (C$89) options.
