Neuron’s safety-first e-bikes have arrived in Calgary!

Neuron is introducing its e-bikes to Calgary streets, building on major rider uptake of our safety-first e-scooter service

Riders in Calgary rejoice! There is now a new transportation option to get from the Peace Bridge to the Saddledome and everywhere in between in a safe and sustainable way: Neuron’s safety-first e-bikes are launching on June 1!

Calgary has become the latest Canadian city to offer Neuron’s e-bikes, which have been designed with the same laser focus on safety that Neuron brings to its e-scooters. Neuron’s e-bikes are an exciting addition for a rider community that has already embraced Neuron’s e-scooter service. Since the company’s launch in Calgary in 2021, Neuron e-scooter riders have travelled over 780,000 kilometres in the city.

Riders can now choose between these two modes based on preference and/or length of trip. The e-bikes also present another environmentally-friendly transportation alternative in Calgary, further reducing the reliance on cars for short trips.

A 2021 Neuron survey of Calgary riders revealed how e-scooters are getting Calgarians out of their cars, with half (50%) of all e-scooter trips in the city replacing a car journey.

Neuron e-bikes are GPS-connected and geofenced to control where they can be ridden and parked, as well as how fast they can travel. Riders will benefit from the same cutting-edge safety features brought over from our e-scooter technology, including the world’s first app-controlled helmet lock that secures a helmet to the e-bike in between trips; topple detection; 911 emergency button; voice guidance to educate and warn riders on how to ride safely; and a ‘Follow my Ride’ function that allows riders to share their trip online with friends and family in real-time for added safety and peace of mind.

E-bike riding is allowed on bike lanes, multi-use pathways, and roads with a speed limit of 50km/h or lower. Calgary riders, who must be at least 18 years of age, can book an e-bike with the easy-to-use Neuron App for the same price as an e-scooter.

Neuron launches Impact Report and pledges to be Carbon Negative by 2025!

We’re committing to a Carbon Negative status for our global operations, as we release Neuron’s first-ever impact report

Our commitment to become Carbon Negative by 2025 follows our Carbon Neutral certification last year and pledge to help reach Net Zero by 2040. This announcement coincides with the launch of our first-ever impact report titled “Meeting Micromobility’s Potential”, which highlights the positive impact of Neuron on the environment, economy and community.

Our Carbon Negative target means Neuron will be taking ambitious measures to reduce its emissions footprint, by addressing emissions-intensive processes in the supply chain, manufacturing, operations and end of life treatment for vehicles.

In the meantime, we remain focused on replacing car journeys with more sustainable options. Our global rider surveys show that over 45% of journeys taken on Neuron’s vehicles last year directly replaced a car trip. With 3 million car journeys avoided in 2021 and an impressive 844 tonnes of carbon emissions saved. We’ve also seen huge growth for Neuron globally as we tripled our operations since September 2020, launching in 22 new cities and continuing to serve the communities we operate in.

During the Covid-19 pandemic Neuron provided frontline workers with 5,000 free monthly passes and a socially discanced way to travel. Trips on a Neuron device also helped connect riders to local retailers, with six out of 10 rides resulting in a purchase. To further support local economies recovering from the pandemic, Neuron was able to create  1,400 employment opportunities worldwide.

Neuron also made a significant investment into safety and innovation, from designing and manufacturing our own e-scooters to our work with safety partners and education programmes. Over the last year Neuron deployed over 325 Safety Ambassadors on the streets to educate riders, delivering 108 safety events, where thousands of face-to-face briefings were conducted as part of the company’s ScootSafe campaigns.

Neuron celebrates Global Road Safety Week to promote safer streets for all!

Our campaign will highlight how riding and parking responsibly can help improve safety outcomes for different members of our communities

We are marking this year’s Global Road Safety Week by teaming up with Blind Citizens Australia (BCA), the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), Thomas Pocklington Trust, Councils, our national safety partners and the local police force to promote safer streets for all from 14-22 May 2022.

The campaign will explore community perspectives around e-scooter use and highlights how responsible use of e-scooters, including good parking, not riding on pavements and maintaining a safe distance from other road users can improve safety outcomes and reassure the entire community. This is especially so for the visually-impaired, those with guide dogs, wheelchair users and the elderly.

#ScootSafe events will be held in every Neuron city during the campaign and participants who take part in a short briefing will earn credits for future rides. To further encourage responsible parking, incentives will be increased during the week when e-scooter trips are ended in a Preferred Parking Zone.

Since launching incentivised Safe Rider Quizzes tailored for every city last Road Safety Week, Neuron’s in-app Safety Center has helped over tens of thousands of our riders familiarise themselves with their local riding rules.

Part of this includes a series of light-hearted videos, albeit with serious messages. The videos will be promoted via a paid social media campaign to encourage viewers to be mindful of their surroundings and considerate of different groups of pedestrians. By watching these videos, participants can take part in Neuron’s social media competition on Instagram and stand a chance to win up to a month of unlimited free rides!

Neuron expands its riding area to North Lethbridge!

Neuron extends riding area less than a month into the program, following exceptional rider uptake

The City of Lethbridge’s riding area just got bigger! Following strong initial program uptake since the program’s launch in April, the e-scooter and e-bike riding area is expanding to North Lethbridge starting May 4.

The expanded riding area will be supported initially by an additional 100 e-scooters in Neuron’s fleet and will provide access as far north as Legacy Ridge, Hardieville, Uplands, and parts of the Anderson and Churchill Industrial parks.

The Neuron program has been embraced by residents. Since the program’s launch in April, thousands of Lethbridge riders have already travelled over 40,000 kms in the city, with an average rider journey of 2.6 kms. Trips around downtown and local parks are proving to be popular routes, with Henderson Park, Galt Gardens and Nicholas Sheran Park being hot spots for riders to start and end their journeys.

We look forward to welcoming new riders with this latest expansion!

For all new and existing riders, the full local Lethbridge riding rules can be found here.

Neuron rolls out its safety-first e-bikes in Vernon!

Neuron is introducing its e-bikes to Vernon streets and building on the city’s highly successful e-scooter program

Vernon riders will now have another option to get around town in a safe and sustainable way: Neuron’s safety-first e-bikes are launching on April 30! Vernon becomes the first city in British Columbia — and second in Canada — to offer Neuron’s e-bikes, which have been designed with the same laser focus on safety that Neuron brings to its e-scooters.

The e-bikes are an exciting addition for a rider community that has already embraced Neuron’s e-scooter service. Riders can now choose between these two modes based on preference and/or length of trip. The e-bikes also present another environmentally-friendly transportation alternative in Vernon, further reducing the reliance on cars for short trips.

Neuron e-bikes are GPS-connected and geofenced to control where they can be ridden and parked, as well as how fast they can travel. Riders will benefit from the same cutting-edge safety features brought over from our e-scooter technology, including the world’s first app-controlled helmet-lock that secures a helmet to the e-bike in between trips; topple detection; 911 emergency button; voice guidance to educate and warn riders on how to ride safely; and a ‘Follow my Ride’ function that allows riders to share their trip online with friends and family in real-time for added safety and peace of mind.

E-bike riding is allowed on bike lanes, multi-use pathways, and roads with a speed limit of 50km/h or lower. E-bike riding is not permitted on sidewalks.

Vernon riders, who must be at least 16 years of age, can book an e-bike with the easy-to-use Neuron App for the same price as an e-scooter. Single trips cost C$1.15 to unlock the e-scooter and 35c per minute thereafter. More frequent users also have the option to purchase Neuron Passes, a subscription service, available in three-day (C$25), weekly (C$33), or monthly (C$89) options.
