Neuron expands its riding area in Rockhampton as locals embrace e-scooters!

Neuron e-scooters are now available in more areas in Rockhampton, extending the range of travel for riders

Starting today, our distinctive orange e-scooters will be available to ride across more areas in Rockhampton. The expanded riding area will mean residents will be able to travel from the Rockhampton City Centre to surrounding suburbs including Berserker, Frenchville, Kawana and West Rockhampton.

Riders will be able to travel from Rockhampton CBD to more residential areas, with access to the popular Yaamba Road and Park Avenue shopping precincts. Our expanded riding area also offers a valuable connection for students and staff travelling to Central Queensland University.

Since first launching in February 2022 our e-scooters have been embraced by locals and tourists alike, with close to 200,000kms travelled in the city. Our recent survey found that 98 per cent of users believe Neuron has created a positive impact for the city. The average trip length in the city is 2.4km, an impressive 54 per cent of all trips replaced a car journey, and 19 per cent of trips wouldn’t have happened at all if the e-scooters weren’t available.

Thank you for riding with Neuron and we look forward to playing a bigger part in your daily commute!

Neuron expands e-bike riding area to Sydney’s Inner West!

Neuron’s distinctive orange e-bikes are now available to hire across more areas in Sydney’s Inner West, supporting first and last mile connections to public transport.

Our e-bike riding area is expanding in Sydney with an additional 50 e-bikes added to our safety-first fleet! The riding area will increase by 18 square kilometres through Sydney’s Inner West suburbs including Marrickville, Newtown, Stanmore, Petersham, Dulwich Hill, Leichhardt, Annandale, Lilyfield. and Rozelle.

As part of the new riding area, those commuting in the city will have more ways to connect to Sydney’s light rail and train stations, also offering access to more residential areas, popular shopping precincts, King George Park on the Rozelle foreshore and Leichhardt’s iconic Italian Forum. Our expansion also brings a valuable connection for students and staff travelling to The University of Sydney.

Since first hitting the streets in April, thousands of Sydney-siders have embraced our e-bikes as part of their daily commute.  The average e-bike journey is 2.2km, with trips from the CBD to Green Square and Sydney University, as well as Bondi and Coogee beaches being the most popular routes. With the state set to begin e-scooter trials this year, the strong e-bike usage is a promising sign for the future of e-scooters.

Neuron partners with North Australian Festival of Arts and promotes safe riding!

We’re proud to be the exclusive micromobility partner for the second year running at Townsville’s North Australian Festival of Arts (NAFA)

Since expanding our service area in Townsville earlier this year, more festival goers than ever before can ride Neuron to NAFA. The city’s month-long fringe festival is set to attract both locals and tourists alike, bringing a welcome boost to the local economy.

During the NAFA, Neuron riders will benefit from priority parking at key festival locations including at the Tropic SoundS main entrance at Reid Park, NAFA Festival Hub main entrance at Jezzine Barracks on Jezzine Way east and NAFA Festival Hub entrance two at the corner of Isley Street and Mitchell Street. Riders who park in Neuron’s preferred parking locations will receive credits towards their next ride.

With large crowds expected, Neuron anticipates a mix of new and existing riders to take up the service. To support riders throughout the festival, roving safety ambassadors will be deployed at key festival locations. Our team will also be holding in person #ScootSafe events with the opportunity for riders to visit our team, take a short safety briefing and earn a free $5 credit towards their next ride – that’s about 10 minute of free scooting!

We have also teamed up with the cast of Rouge to remind riders how they can ride and park responsibly, check out their key safety tips in the below video. This video will be supported by a range of in-app messages to riders reminding them to wear a helmet, don’t drink and ride, and to always park responsibly at the end of their trip.

Neuron launches Impact Report and pledges to be Carbon Negative by 2025!

We’re committing to a Carbon Negative status for our global operations, as we release Neuron’s first-ever impact report

Our commitment to become Carbon Negative by 2025 follows our Carbon Neutral certification last year and pledge to help reach Net Zero by 2040. This announcement coincides with the launch of our first-ever impact report titled “Meeting Micromobility’s Potential”, which highlights the positive impact of Neuron on the environment, economy and community.

Our Carbon Negative target means Neuron will be taking ambitious measures to reduce its emissions footprint, by addressing emissions-intensive processes in the supply chain, manufacturing, operations and end of life treatment for vehicles.

In the meantime, we remain focused on replacing car journeys with more sustainable options. Our global rider surveys show that over 45% of journeys taken on Neuron’s vehicles last year directly replaced a car trip. With 3 million car journeys avoided in 2021 and an impressive 844 tonnes of carbon emissions saved. We’ve also seen huge growth for Neuron globally as we tripled our operations since September 2020, launching in 22 new cities and continuing to serve the communities we operate in.

During the Covid-19 pandemic Neuron provided frontline workers with 5,000 free monthly passes and a socially discanced way to travel. Trips on a Neuron device also helped connect riders to local retailers, with six out of 10 rides resulting in a purchase. To further support local economies recovering from the pandemic, Neuron was able to create  1,400 employment opportunities worldwide.

Neuron also made a significant investment into safety and innovation, from designing and manufacturing our own e-scooters to our work with safety partners and education programmes. Over the last year Neuron deployed over 325 Safety Ambassadors on the streets to educate riders, delivering 108 safety events, where thousands of face-to-face briefings were conducted as part of the company’s ScootSafe campaigns.

Neuron celebrates Global Road Safety Week to promote safer streets for all!

Our campaign will highlight how riding and parking responsibly can help improve safety outcomes for different members of our communities

We are marking this year’s Global Road Safety Week by teaming up with Blind Citizens Australia (BCA), the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), Thomas Pocklington Trust, Councils, our national safety partners and the local police force to promote safer streets for all from 14-22 May 2022.

The campaign will explore community perspectives around e-scooter use and highlights how responsible use of e-scooters, including good parking, not riding on pavements and maintaining a safe distance from other road users can improve safety outcomes and reassure the entire community. This is especially so for the visually-impaired, those with guide dogs, wheelchair users and the elderly.

#ScootSafe events will be held in every Neuron city during the campaign and participants who take part in a short briefing will earn credits for future rides. To further encourage responsible parking, incentives will be increased during the week when e-scooter trips are ended in a Preferred Parking Zone.

Since launching incentivised Safe Rider Quizzes tailored for every city last Road Safety Week, Neuron’s in-app Safety Center has helped over tens of thousands of our riders familiarise themselves with their local riding rules.

Part of this includes a series of light-hearted videos, albeit with serious messages. The videos will be promoted via a paid social media campaign to encourage viewers to be mindful of their surroundings and considerate of different groups of pedestrians. By watching these videos, participants can take part in Neuron’s social media competition on Instagram and stand a chance to win up to a month of unlimited free rides!
