Neuron to launch e-scooters in Yeppoon with a range of cutting-edge safety features!

After a strong track record of partnering with cities and leadership in the safety and innovation space, Neuron has been selected as the sole provider in Yeppoon’s upcoming e-scooter trial.

We’re thrilled to announce Neuron has been selected to provide e-scooters in Yeppoon as part of a 12-month trial with Livingstone Shire Council. From Thursday, 10 November, up to 150 of our purpose-built e-scooters will be available to ride around the town.

Yeppoon will be the fifth city in Queensland to benefit from our e-scooters, with Neuron already running successful operations in Brisbane, Townsville, Bundaberg and Rockhampton. Elsewhere in Australia, cities are already benefiting from our industry-leading e-scooters, which have been purpose-built to a commercial grade, specifically for renting.

To help get the community up to speed with the riding rules Neuron will be hosting a ‘ScootSafe’ event on Saturday 12, November at Yeppoon Amphitheater from 10am where Safety Ambassadors will be assisting new riders with signing up on Neuron’s user-friendly app, and educating riders on how to park and ride responsibly. Participants who complete the ‘ScootSafe’ briefings will be rewarded with free e-scooter credits for future rides. Those who can not attend in person are encouraged to visit our industry-first interactive, online riding school, ScootSafe Academy for city-specific training materials and free credits towards their next ride.

Safety is our top priority, it dictates our e-scooter design and the way we operate them. Our e-scooters are packed with a range of cutting-edge safety features, including world’s first app-controlled helmet lock that secures a safety helmet to the e-scooter between trips; and a topple detection feature that can detect if an e-scooter has been left on its side which then alerts an operations team to reposition it safely. Other innovations include a 000 emergency button which can tell if someone has had a fall and helps the rider call the emergency services, Voice guidance to educate and warn riders of how to ride safely, and a Follow My Ride function that allows riders to share their trip in real time, for added safety and peace of mind.

Neuron partners with RAA to help riders better plan their trip!

Neuron partners with RAA to help riders better plan their trip!

Our service is now integrated on South Australia’s RAA Go app, making it easier than ever before to plan journeys across different sustainable modes of transport

We’re thrilled to partner with RAASouth Australia’s largest membership organisation providing motor, home and travel services – to integrate our service on their newly launched, RAA Go app. Through the app users will be able to find the fastest, cheapest and most environmentally friendly way to arrive at their destination across different modes of transport including Neuron e-scooters and e-bikes. The app is free to download and also provides real-time information around traffic congestion, incidents, fuel prices and other helpful alerts.

A recent RAA survey of more than 1300 commuters found that those under the age of 30 regularly combine multiple transport modes and are most likely to combine rideshares or e-scooter share schemes with public transport. Through our latest partnership, it will be simpler and more convenient than ever before to plan sustainable, multi-modal journeys.

Elsewhere in cities, Neuron is committed to MaaS solutions. In March 2022, we integrated with Google Maps allowing riders to locate their nearest Neuron device alongside directions and information on how long it will take to get there. Neuron also partnered with MaaS platforms Moovit in October 2021 and ODIN Pass in July 2021 to offer greater trip customisation.

Neuron is Australia’s leading micromobility operator with e-scooters and e-bikes available to hire across Adelaide. Our safety-first vehicles are fitted with the same cutting-edge safety features, including the world’s first app-controlled helmet lock; topple detection; 000 emergency button; Voice guidance; and ‘Follow My Ride’ function.

Neuron riders travel 20 million kilometres across Australia!

Neuron riders travel 20 million kilometres across Australia!

The impressive distance travelled by riders signals micromobility as an increasingly integral part of the transport mix.

Recently, we reached the impressive milestone of 20 million kilometres travelled on our e-scooters and e-bikes in Australia – the equivalent to going to the moon and back 26 times. The collective distance travelled by our riders is a testament to the incredible growth of micromobility in just a few short years.

Starting with 600 e-scooters in Brisbane, we now have over 8,000 e-scooters and e-bikes across Australia, and we’re the only micromobilty operator in every Australian capital city.

Here are some of the ways our riders have contributed positively to the communities we operate in;

  • 65% of our riders started or ended their trip by making a purchase at a local business
  • One in ten trips wouldn’t have happened if e-scooters weren’t available, meaning businesses would have missed out on valuable sales
  • Thousands of riders rode a Neuron device to get their Covid-19 vaccination when we pledged $100,000 toward free trips to vaccination centres in July 2021
  • Our riders saved an estimated 1,4600 tonnes of COemissions by choosing to ride a Neuron device over a car.
  • Thousands of riders have learnt how to ride responsibly through our ScootSafe events, safe riding campaigns, in-app messaging and our industry-first  online riding school ScootSafe Academy

We are really proud of some of our company achievements we have made over our journey to date;

  • We are the first and only micromobility company in Australia to have a Reconciliation Action Plan formally endorsed by Reconciliation Australia.
  • We launched our first impact report earlier this year, detailing an ambitious sustainability strategy and our commitment to be carbon negative by 2025. This commitment follows our Carbon Neutral certification last year and pledge to help reach Net Zero by 2040.
  • We remain committed to the safety of our riders with a number of rider education campaigns developed in consultation with our national safety partners from the Australian Road Safety Foundation and Blind Citizens Australia.

Neuron celebrates Helmet Safety Awareness Week 2022 for the second year running!

Neuron celebrates Helmet Safety Awareness Week 2022 for the second year running!

Riders are reminded to wear a helmet and ride safely this Helmet Safety Awareness Week and beyond.

From today until 9 October, Neuron celebrates its second Helmet Safety Awareness Week 2022 – an annual global safety campaign dedicated to promoting the importance of helmet wearing and safe and responsible riding.

Around the world, research has shown that e-scooter riders who do not wear helmets are more likely to suffer from serious injuries – 28% of which occur to the head or neck. A recent study by researchers in Finland found that a majority of e-scooter riders who suffer head injuries were not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and that wearing a helmet is a significant factor offering protection from traumatic brain injuries.

This year’s campaign aims to recognise riders who #ScootSafe by wearing helmets. During the week, riders featured on our social media platforms for safe and responsible riding will receive an exclusive rider coupon applicable for their next ride.

Safety remains as Neuron’s number one priority and through Helmet Safety Awareness Week, we hope to be able to promote consistent helmet use amongst riders and encourage safe and responsible riding.

Neuron rolls out discounted Concession Pass as part of Neuron Access programme to more cities globally!

We hope to provide greater access to our e-scooter and e-bike services with heavily discounted rides for those in an eligible government support programme

We are thrilled to announce the expansion of our Concession Pass to more cities globally, following the successful launch of our global equity and accessibility programme Neuron Access. Through Concession Pass we aim to make our e-scooter and e-bike services accessible to low-income users, providing up to 50% off an applicable Neuron Pass.

In order to qualify for our Concession Pass, riders must be a current recipient of an eligible government support programme, which we have expanded to include a range of city-specific programmes. Please start an application through the ‘Rates & Passes’ page on the Neuron app to find out more.

Similar to low-cost transit passes offered by public transport services, our Concession Pass makes budgeting for transportation expenditure easier, allowing users to ride more at substantial cost savings and reduced upfront fees. Concession Pass holders will enjoy free rides up to the daily limit with no additional unlocking fees throughout the duration of their pass.

As part of our latest roll out, our Concession Pass is now available in Adelaide, Ballarat, Canberra and Townsville in Australia; and Ottawa in Canada. We have additionally launched in more countries including New Zealand in Christchurch and the UK in Newcastle. This is on top of existing cities including Brisbane, Darwin, Melbourne, and Perth in Australia as well as Calgary in Canada.

We are committed to further develop what Neuron Access has to offer and create a wide-scale positive impact on riders within these cities. We hope to continue to lower the barrier to safe and sustainable transportation modes for the communities we serve.
