E-bikes to join Neuron’s e-scooter fleet in Brisbane under new permit!

Brisbane will be the first Queensland city and third city in Australia to host Neuron’s e-bikes as well as its e-scooters

We have been awarded a new permit from Brisbane City Council to operate 1,000 e-scooters, increasing our fleet size by 10%. The new permit will also include 400 safety-first e-bikes which will be available from late July. Since launching in August 2019, our e-scooters have covered over four million kilometres, eliminating an estimated 295 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

In partnership with the council, we have introduced a range of pioneering safety innovations including the world’s first app-controlled Helmet Lock to increase helmet availability, while reducing ‘helmet litter’. We’ve also pioneered a full suite of geofencing in the city, controlling where e-scooters are ridden and parked, and how fast they can travel in certain areas.

Our e-scooters and e-bikes will provide Brisbane residents with a multi-modal transport choice based on their preference and length of trip. Serving as an additional sustainable transport option, the pedal-assisted e-bikes are great for longer journeys as riders are able to travel faster on bike paths, footpaths, and low speed roads.

Similar to our e-scooters, many other cutting-edge safety features will also be carried over to our e-bikes including: a 000 emergency button, voice guidance, topple detection and a “Follow my Ride” function. Users will be able to conveniently choose between both transport modes for the same price depending on their preference and types of journey through our user-friendly app.

Neuron’s safety-first e-scooters are coming to Calgary!

Calgary becomes the latest Canadian city to launch our distinctive ‘safety-orange’ e-scooters

Our 750-strong fleet of safety-first e-scooters will be available to ride on the streets of Calgary starting the first week of June. In partnership with the City of Calgary, Neuron e-scooters will provide Calgarians with a safe, convenient and socially-distanced transport option.

Free morning commutes are extended to all riders during the first month of operation from 5am to 9am on weekdays to support the city’s recovery. While the current Covid-19 restrictions are in place, free monthly passes are also available for Public Health workers and Emergency Service staff, redeemable through the app using an applicable work email address.

Our latest and safest Canadian-spec e-scooters are purpose-built for safety and rental. They are equipped with a range of pioneering safety innovations, including the world’s first app-controlled helmet lock, securing a helmet to every e-scooter in between trips, topple detection, a 911 emergency button, bilingual voice guidance to educate and warn riders on how to ride safely, and a “Follow my Ride” function, and more.

Geofencing technology will control where the e-scooters can be ridden and parked, as well as how fast they can travel in different areas. Each e-scooter will also be fitted with a unique license plate for easy identification and to promote responsible use.

Riders are able to book and use the e-scooters through our app, with trips costing C$1.15 to unlock the e-scooter and 35 cents per minute thereafter. Our frequent users can also purchase Neuron Passes, available in three-day (C$25), weekly (C$33), or monthly (C$89) options. The pass enables users to ride as many times as they want for up to 90 minutes per day, resulting in savings of up to 95%.

Neuron Rolls Out First-Ever Third Party Insurance for Rental E-scooters in Australia and New Zealand!

Neuron Rolls Out First-Ever Third Party Insurance for Rental E-scooters in Australia and New Zealand!

We are promoting safe riding across Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and South Korea with a number of safety initiatives.

We are thrilled to be the first rental e-scooter company in Australia and New Zealand to provide riders with third party insurance, the new addition to our insurance suite will mean riders of rental e-scooters will be covered for liability to third parties during their journeys.

This extended cover will complement our existing AUD $20 million public liability insurance, along with the company’s personal accident insurance, giving riders added peace of mind in case of an incident during their ride. The provision of third party rider liability insurance goes well beyond what is required by law and further demonstrates our commitment to operating in the safest, most responsible, way.

The introduction of third party cover represents an important step forward for the e-scooter industry in Australia and New Zealand, bringing the level of protection associated with Neuron’s service similar to more traditional transport modes.

This announcement is the latest in a range of safety initiatives for Road Safety Week (17-23 May). The insurance coincides with the launch of a city specific in-app Safe Rider Quiz, that promotes responsible riding and rewards users with a $5 credit towards their next trip. It is also supported by a range of in-person ScootSafe activations in every city that involves ‘Safety Ambassadors’ engaging one-to-one with riders and the general public to educate and highlight the rules and top safety guidelines for riding an e-scooter.

Neuron celebrates Road Safety Week!

We are promoting safe riding across Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and South Korea with a number of safety initiatives.

In conjunction with UN Global Road Safety Week (17-23 May), we are organising a series of #ScootSafe demonstrations across all markets that we operate in. By partnering with councils, the local police or community safety ambassadors, attendees will have the opportunity to complete safety briefings or courses in a safe and socially-distanced manner.

We are also launching Safe Rider Quizzes tailored for each and every one of our cities. This will promote safe riding and educate our riders of the local riding rules. It is available on the Neuron app, and free e-scooter credits will be awarded to riders for completing them.

Other safety innovations we will be highlighting include the ‘helmet selfie’ which awards riders with free credits if they take a picture of themselves wearing a helmet. Incentivised parking stations will also enable riders to earn free credits for their next ride.

Our N3 e-scooters are purpose-built for safety and renting. They have an impressive range of world-first safety features which include: the world’s first app-controlled helmet lock which secures a helmet to every e-scooter in between trips; topple detection; an emergency button; voice guidance to educate and warn riders on how to ride safely; a “Follow my Ride” function; and more to come in the pipeline.

Safety is at the heart of everything we do. We’re committed to providing a safe, convenient and environmentally-friendly service for our users and the general public during Road Safety Week and beyond!
