Neuron joins The Climate Pledge to achieve net zero target by 2040!

The initiative further supports the sustainability goals of towns and cities across our global operations

We are committing to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2040 by joining The Climate Pledge, which is co-founded by Amazon and Global Optimism. This announcement builds on our sustainability commitments and certification of global carbon neutral status.

As part of the initiative, we will be regularly measuring and reporting our greenhouse gas emissions as well as implementing a range of decarbonisation strategies. Signatories also commit to neutralising any remaining emissions with offsets to achieve net zero annual carbon emissions by 2040 — a decade earlier than specified by the Paris Agreement.

Across our global operations, our rider surveys revealed that around 45% of journeys made on Neuron e-scooters have directly replaced trips that would otherwise have been made in a car. Since launching in 2016, an estimated 1,500 tonnes of CO2 have been saved from entering the atmosphere.

Our distinctive orange e-scooters are designed and purpose-built for safe and sustainable operations, this includes the world’s first battery swappable e-scooter, introduced in 2018. Their modular design allows them to be upgraded and refurbished throughout their life and last 2-5 times longer than many other e-scooters. At the end of their operational life the parts are reclaimed and recycled.

Neuron doubles Bundaberg’s e-scooter riding area and halves riding rates

The expanded riding area more than doubles the current zone and will cover a further 16.5 square kilometres of riding area.

From tomorrow distinctive orange e-scooters will be available to ride across more areas in Bundaberg and Bargara. The expanded riding area will mean residents in suburbs will be able to travel from the Bundaberg city centre to surrounding suburbs including Stocklands, Kepnock, Svensson Heights, Walkervale and Bundaberg East.

Our N3 e-scooters have been embraced by residents, who have traveled a quarter of a million kilometres since launching in April 2021. The expansion will also provide access to popular destinations including Stockland Shopping Centre, Bundaberg Entertainment Precinct, The Waves Sports Club and SSS Village Accommodation as well as allowing riders to scoot all the way to Mon Repos Turtle Centre in Bargara.

To mark the expansion Neuron is offering 50 per cent off rides from Monday – Friday for the month of September. Weekday riders will benefit from a 50c unlock fee (usually $1) and rates of 22 cents per minute thereafter (usually 45c).

During  September Neuron Passes will also be available for discounted rates, three-day ($20 down from $25), weekly ($25 down from $33), or monthly ($30 down from $45) they will also introduce a new daily pass for $15. The packages will allow users to ride as many times as they want for up to 90 minutes per day for a fixed affordable price. Riders can book and use the e-scooters through Neuron’s user-friendly app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play and set up in a matter of minutes.

Neuron Commits $200,000 of Free Trips to Support Australia and New Zealand’s Vaccination Plans

The initiative aims to assist Australia and New Zealand's Vaccination roll-out plans

Neuron has announced that we will be committing $200,000 of free trips to help more people in Australia and New Zealand get vaccinated. The offer will be available to riders in all cities where Neuron operates across both countries, and applies to both the company’s e-scooters and e-bikes.

Launching on 30 July, the initiative aims to assist the nation’s COVID-19 vaccination rollout. Neuron’s $200,000 will provide 20,000 Australia and New Zealand (10,000 in Australia and 10,000 in New Zealand) with free transport to go towards receiving their COVID-19 vaccination.

To take advantage of the offer, riders will need to download the Neuron app and follow the vaccination promotion prompts. They will then receive $10 of ride coupons on their account, to go towards one round trip to the nearest vaccination centre, GP or hospital.

Neuron has a history of supporting the communities it operates in. During the first nationwide lockdown starting in March 2020, when other companies pulled their vehicles from the streets, Neuron was the only e-scooter operator to keep its service running for essential workers. As well as providing a socially-distanced transport option, the company gave away thousands of free monthly passes to indispensible public health workers, many of whom were required to travel to work during the pandemic.

Neuron launches safety-first e-bikes in Brisbane with free morning commutes!

Neuron launches safety-first e-bikes in Brisbane with free morning commutes!

Our service area in Brisbane will also be expanded for both e-bikes and e-scooters

Neuron’s safety-first e-bikes have hit Brisbane’s streets with a fleet of 400 e-bikes available to hire across the CBD and surrounding areas from 22 July. The launch will complement Neuron’s existing e-scooter programme and both options offer a safe, convenient and socially-distanced way to travel.

The launch of e-bikes has also seen an additional 100 e-scooters added to our current fleet bringing the total up from 900 to 1,000, as well as an expansion in the riding area for both e-scooters and e-bikes to include Hamilton, East Brisbane, Stones Corner, Indooroopilly and Rosalie.

The introduction of e-bikes will provide Brisbanites with a multi-modal choice based on their preference and length of trip. The pedal-assisted e-bikes may be preferred over e-scooters for longer journeys as riders are able to travel using dedicated bike lanes, and low speed roads. The introduction of e-bikes will also provide riders with greater access to sustainable transport options, reducing the reliance on cars for short journeys.

To support the city’s recovery, and to encourage riders to ditch their cars, Neuron is providing free morning commutes between 7am – 9am on weekdays for the first month. This will provide residents with a safe, sustainable and socially-distanced way to commute to work.

Up until the end of the month we will also be matching the remaining credit on Lime riders’ accounts (to a maximum of $20). To redeem the offer, simply download the Neuron app and follow the prompts on Lime credit transfer.

Geofencing technology will also be used to control where e-scooters can be ridden and parked, and how fast they can travel.

New riders can download our user-friendly app, from the App Store or Google Play and set it up in a matter of minutes. A solo trip will cost NZD$1 to unlock the e-scooter and then 45 cents per minute.
