Neuron’s e-scooter service in Newcastle has been extended to May 2026!

We are thrilled to continue serving our Newcastle riders following over three years of successful operations

We are delighted to announce that Newcastle City Council has extended the city’s highly popular e-scooter trial until May 2026.

The e-scooter trial first launched in February 2021 and rider surveys have found 97% of users believe the programme has created a positive impact on the city. An impressive 40% of all trips have replaced a car journey, saving 140 tonnes of CO2 emissions to date.  The top reasons for trips are: commuting (40%), running errands (28%) and travelling to and from appointments (20%).

Positive impacts have not just been limited to Neuron riders. The e-scooters have helped reduce car use and congestion, as well as improve air quality in Newcastle. The trial is also helping to boost the local economy

In Newcastle, seven out of 10 trips result in a purchase, with an average spend of £17.80 at a local business. This adds up to £11,900 per e-scooter and £8.9 million spent in the city annually. The e-scooter trial is also boosting spending on Newcastle’s high streets, with 38% of trips starting and ending within a core section of the central shopping district.

We look forward to continuing to support the city so our wonderful riders can scoot to their favourite local spots in a safe, convenient, and environmentally-friendly way!
