We are thrilled to be celebrating our one year in Sunderland with exciting news of an expanded riding area! From 7 April, Sunderland riders will be able to travel further on their Neuron e-scooters, including exploring new destinations like the Stadium of Light, the riverside, not forgetting our most popular destinations up in Seaburn and by Roker seafront!
With the new riding areas, Neuron’s e-scooters will better serve a variety of groups including medical professionals employed at The Royal Hospital and those living in key student accommodation in the city. The expanded riding area also covers many local shops and eateries – a real plus for the local businesses in the vicinity as 65% of Neuron e-scooter trips in Sunderland have led to purchase at a local business.
Since first hitting the streets of Sunderland in March 2021, Neuron’s e-scooters have travelled 110,000 miles, saving an estimated 10 tonnes of CO2 emissions. According to locals, e-scooters are an alternative way of getting to work and travelling around Sunderland and 95% of riders believe they have made a positive impact on the city.
We are glad that the safety-orange e-scooters have been embraced by residents of Sunderland, and will continue to work closely with the Council and the community to ensure our service remains safe, convenient, and efficient.
